Uzbekistan Avenue in downtown Tashkent has been renamed to Islam Karimov Avenue, Tashkent mayor’s office announced today.
The decision has been adopted by the Council of people's deputies pursuant to the January 25 Presidential decree on perpetuation of the memory of the first President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov.
Islam Karimov Avenue connects Tashkent’s five districts - Mirabad, Yunusobod, Yakkasaray, Shaikhantakhur and Chilanzar.
