On Wednesday at 11:42 am, a dust-coal air mixture exploded in the 5th power unit of the Yangi-Angren thermal power plant in Tashkent province, during a shutdown for maintenance, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
As a result of an incident that happened during maintenance, three people died from injuries, and three more sustained various degree burns. The deceased and injured are employees of service enterprises that were performing maintenance work in the 5th power unit.
The teams of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene and are now eliminating the consequences of emergencies. An investigation into the causes and conditions of the explosion has been launched.
No infrastructure and process equipment of Yangi-Angren TPP were not damaged.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations promised to publish new data as information becomes available.
In January last year, the roof of power unit No. 4 caught fire at Yangi-Angren. There were no casualties.
