Differentiated fare system could be introduced at the Tashkent metro before June 2021, announced the acting Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov.
“Nowadays the metro lines are extending. A passenger who has traveled one or two kilometers pays 1,400 soums, but another person who has traveled 10-15 kilometers pays the same fare - 1,400 soums. We have recently implemented an automated payment system. This will allow us to analyze,” he said.
He added that after two to three months of analysis, it is planned to introduce a differentiated fare system based on the distance traveled by a passenger.
“The system will be implemented by the middle of this year,” he concluded.
Recently on December 26 was launched the Sergeli line of the Tashkent Metro. The designing began in 2017. Five stations have been built on the 7-kilometer line.
