The Deputy PM/Chairman of Tourism Development Committee Aziz Abdukhakimov at a briefing at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications on Saturday spoke about the tourism sector figures in 2020 and the objectives for 2021.

“The tourism sector has become one of the most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In 2020, 1 million 504 thousand foreign tourists visited the country. While, US$ 261 million worth of tourist services were provided,” the Deputy PM said.

He emphasized that specific plans have been developed for 2021 to attract 1.7 million tourists from abroad. He added that the export of tourism services is expected to be worth US$ 370 million.

Aziz Abdukhakimov also announced domestic tourism figures. According to him, last year, domestic trips were made by 1.8 million people, and this year this number is expected to increase sharply to 7.5 million tourists.
