The Anti-Corruption Agency sent a request and began to study the situation with public procurement in the Jizzakh province, which bloggers and the media reported on the eve, the agency's press service said.
On Friday, the company My Flower, owned by the daughter of the provincial governor Ergash Saliyev, on two occasions this year, was awarded the contract for decorating the Sharaf Rashidov Street in Jizzakh city with trees and flowers. The total price of projects ordered by regional governor’s office is estimated at over 2 billion soums, US$ 200 thousand.
The Anti-Corruption Agency reported that, following the study, the media and the general public will be provided with detailed information.
The Agency noted that the public procurement system in Uzbekistan has become more transparent with the start of publishing open data on the public procurement portal.
“Thanks to the efforts of the media and bloggers, as well as active citizens, suspicious cases are becoming public,” the statement said.
