President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the presidential press service said in a statement.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the end of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, wishing peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the fraternal country.
"The parties expressed their hope for security and stability in the entire region of the South Caucasus," the message says.
The leaders also discussed the state and prospects for advancing the Uzbek-Azerbaijani ties.
“The parties commended the mutual support provided during the difficult period of the pandemic, which once again demonstrated the centuries-old friendship and strategic nature of cooperation between the two countries,” the statement noted.
The leaders highlighted the importance of actively promoting joint steps and projects aimed at increasing the volume of the two-way trade, expanding cooperation between leading enterprises in industry and agriculture, energy, transport and logistics, tourism and other sectors. The readiness to continue intensive interregional and cultural and humanitarian exchanges was confirmed.
At the end of the conversation, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan agreed to maintain a close dialogue within the framework of global and regional structures, and also considered the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events at the highest level.
