On December 4, the Uzbek Ambassador to the Holy See Jahongir Ganiev presented his credentials to the Pope Francis, Dunyo reported.
During the official ceremony, which took place at the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, the Pope Francis reportedly underscored that over the years of development of diplomatic relations, the Vatican and Tashkent have accumulated a positive experience of partnership, aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between representatives of different ethnicities and religions.
In particular, the Pope Francis noted the importance of the city of Samarkand as a center of philosophical and religious ideas not only for the countries of the East, but also for the Western world.
At the end of the conversation, the Pope noted that he would pray for the prosperity of the Uzbek people and the well-being President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
