Mehriddin Abdullayev, Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, answered a question about the volume of gas production in Uzbekistan.
“The volume of gas production in 2018 was 35.4 BCM, and in 2019 it topped 33.5 BCM, a decrease of about 2 BCM.
This year we are expecting 33.6 BCM. This is a minimum, it may be more.
Natural decrease averages 4.5 BCM a year. The causes of natural decrease are many. We have reserves in our mines, but they are far under the ground, and there is no infrastructure. Therefore, if our plan for this year is 33.6 BCM, we plan to increase it up to 33.9-34 BCM next year. In other words, we need to stop the natural decrease, by increasing the production by 5 BCM,” Mehriddin Abdullayev said at a press conference on“ Promising projects and current tasks in the petrochemical industry ”.
