Today, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke to the Russian President Vladimir Putin over the telephone, the Uzbek presidency press service said in a statement.
The counterparts reportedly discussed the preparations for the CIS summit scheduled for December, which will be held under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the format of a videoconference.
The two leaders also reviewed the ways to expand Uzbek-Russian cooperation, while underscoring "the steady upward trend in the bilateral trade and economic ties in the context of the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic."
Mutual visits are being actively conducted, the joint Intergovernmental Commission and other mechanisms of interaction are working fruitfully. The volume of the two-way trade is growing, the implementation of priority projects of industrial cooperation in various sectors of the economy, as well as humanitarian exchange programs are ongoing, the statement said.
