Uzbekistan calls for a phased resumption of flights, train and bus services between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to promote tourism and cultural exchange, the Uzbekistan PM Abdulla Aripov said today in his statement at an online meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO countries.

According to Abdulla Aripov, this process must be carried out in compliance with all sanitary requirements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He also proposed to declare annually one of the cities of the country presiding in the SCO as the tourist and cultural capital. “We will be grateful to the parties for their support of this initiative,” he said.

“We also support the approval of a joint action plan for the implementation of the cooperation program between the SCO member states in the field of tourism for 2021-2022,” Abdulla Aripov said.

The Prime Minister recalled that an international university of tourism "Silk Road" has been established in Samarkand, which can become a coordinating university for all SCO countries to train specialists in the field of tourism.

“We invite our partners and colleagues to actively participate in the activities of this university. We are ready to provide quotas for admission to all countries,” he added.
