On November 24, the Foreign Minister Kamilov delivered a video message to the online 2020 Afghanistan Conference in Geneva, the Foreign Ministry said.

The event was reportedly organized by the governments of Finland and Afghanistan, as well as with the assistance of the UN. The conference was attended by representatives of over 100 countries, international and regional organizations, civil society and the media.

The Foreign Minister Kamilov in his message noted that Uzbekistan had become one of the first countries to welcome the launch of intra-Afghan peace talks and actively contributed to their conduct. The republic is actively involved in the processes of establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan. The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of important and relevant initiatives aimed at restoring Afghanistan’s socio-economic life.

He added that Uzbekistan provides assistance to Afghanistan in the field of power supply, construction of transport infrastructure, training of personnel.

He also focused on the cooperation against the spread of coronavirus infection, as well as overcoming its consequences and added stated that in the context of a pandemic, Uzbekistan sent a number of humanitarian aid to the brotherly Afghan people with basic necessities, food products, and medicines.
