Uzbekistan considers it important to connect Afghanistan in the integration processes in Central Asia for the earliest possible achievement of peace and stability in this country.

This was discussed at a meeting between the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and the chairman of the Supreme Council for the National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah on November 11 in Tashkent, the Foreign Ministry said.

The parties also focused on the ways to deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation through the joint implementation of investment and infrastructure projects in the fields of transport, logistics, energy, trade and education.

Peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban kicked off on September 12 in the Qatari capital Doha. Prior to that, on February 29, the United States and the Taliban signed a peace deal that provided for the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and the start of an inter-Afghan dialogue. In return, the Taliban pledged not to use Afghan territory to attack the United States and other countries.
