The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the visiting Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah, the presidential press service said.
The parties reportedly discussed the topical issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as assistance to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with deep satisfaction the upward trend in the Uzbek-Afghan relations in recent years and emphasized the efforts aimed at expanding the ties, promote priority projects in the trade, economy, investment, transport and logistics, energy, education and other areas.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed readiness to actively participate in infrastructure projects of regional importance in Afghanistan.
Abdullah Abdullah, thanking for the warm welcome, commended the efforts of the Uzbek authorities for the launch of peaceful inter-Afghan negotiations, as well as the consolidation of the international community's actions to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan. He expressed gratitude for the constant assistance and highlighted Uzbekistan’s contribution to the involvement of Afghanistan in regional trade and economic processes.
The parties also exchange views on issues of mutual interest in regional and international politics.
