The EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian commented on the joint statement of the heads of state of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on the events in Kyrgyzstan.

“We are pleased to note that this joint statement demonstrates that, in difficult times, the Central Asian region stands together and supports constitutional approaches based on the rule of law to address domestic problems, as we do. This is an important signal of solidarity and support for solving even the most difficult issues on the basis of the constitution and the rule of law," Dunyo quotes him.

According to the diplomat, the adoption of the joint statement is a positive sign that the region "is forming its positive identity based on common values." “We see behind this initiative the leadership and active involvement of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with his neighbors, which is highly valued by the EU,” Peter Burian emphasized.
