On October 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Moon Jae In on the National Foundation Day of Korea and the traditional Chuseok holiday.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and South Korea substantively examined the current state and the ways to further advance bilateral special strategic partnership ties, and also exchanged views on topical international issues.
The President of Uzbekistan also sincerely thanked his colleague for the practical assistance provided by South Korea in organizing an effective fight against the pandemic, in introducing advanced experience in the prevention and treatment of this disease.
An agreement was reached on further close coordination at the level of ministries of health and other interested organizations, including in the field of improving treatment methods, developing and ensuring access to vaccines.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the preparation of the agenda for the upcoming summit meeting.
In particular, the two leaders considered trade, economic and investment cooperation ties, the formation of favorable conditions for the growth of trade turnover and strengthening of cooperation, including expanding the necessary legal framework and assistance in promoting business initiatives. They instructed the governments of the two countries to continue all-round support for the 65 ongoing joint investment, financial, technical and humanitarian cooperation projects, primarily socially significant programs in the field of health and education through the Korean International Cooperation Agency and the Fund for Economic Development and Cooperation.
In addition, coordinated measures will be taken to build up a portfolio of promising projects with the participation of leading companies and banking and financial institutions of Uzbekistan and South Korea, which surpasses US$ 4 billion.
