In 8 months of 2020, the money sent by Uzbeks overseas reached US$ 3.7 billion. Cash remittances dropped by or 5.4 percent or by US$ 209 million compared to the same period of 2019.

This was announced on September 10 at a press conference dedicated to cutting the Central Bank's interest rate on Friday.

The volume of remittances sharply dropped in March-April (due non-working weeks being announced in Russia due to the pandemic), and doubled in May compared to April.

At the same time, in June and August more money was sent to the last year's figure.
