The Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia Abdulaziz Kamilov and Sergey Lavrov met on September 10 on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The course of preparation for the signing of interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents within the framework of the upcoming state visit of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation was reviewed. In this regard, special attention was paid to the 2nd meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of the heads of the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan, scheduled for the current year,” the statement says.

The parties also reportedly exchanged views on a wide range of topical issues of Russian-Uzbek foreign policy interaction, international and regional agendas and noted that the ministerial talks were the next step in the interaction of the foreign ministries within the framework of the implementation of agreements at the highest and high levels, based on the principles of strategic partnership and alliance ties between Uzbekistan and Russia.
