Restoring direct flights between Samarkand and Lviv was discussed on September 9 by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Uzbekistan Nikolai Doroshenko and the governor of the Samarkand province Erkinjon Turdimov, as well as the Samarkand city mayor Boburmirzo Oblakulov. The Ukrainian Embassy said on its Facebook page.
In February, it was reported that Ukraine is interested in the swift restoration of seven flights a week schedule. At the same time, the question of resuming the Tashkent-Kharkov-Tashkent railway service was raised.
At a meeting last Wednesday, the parties also discussed potential projects to create an IT park in the field of healthcare, agricultural processing, animal husbandry and a number of other areas.
The Ukrainian Ambassador conveyed the invitation of the chairman of the Lviv province, Maxim Kozitsky, to the officials of the Samarkand province to visit Lviv, the sister city of Samarkand.
"The parties agreed to as soon as possible hold an online meeting with Samarkand businesses with the participation of Ukrainian manufacturers and businessmen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation," the Embassy concluded.
