Uzbekistan could be handed observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union before the year-end,Iya Malkina, assistant to Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) announced today at an online briefing. 

“Traditionally, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council convenes a meeting at the end of the year, and we are hoping that this tradition will be kept this year. We also believe that Uzbekistan will be granted the observer status at this meeting,” Iya Malkina said. 

At the meeting of the EEC Council on September 4, the of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council reviewed the issue of draft decision on granting Uzbekistan the observer state status in the EAEU.

The final decision will be made by the EAEU heads of state, the EEC press service noted.
