After a six-month break, 329 public schools in Uzbekistan have resumed classes starting from September 7, the Ministry of Public Education said.
Earlier in March 16, schools in the country have been quarantined due to the COVID-19 epidemic, students switched to online education.
The Ministry of Education and Science noted that until September 5, the Centers for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare studied the state of readiness in schools for the new school year and conducted additional trainings for school staff, which are still ongoing.
“The decision to resume schools is taken by local councils of people's deputies on the basis of the conclusion of the Centers for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance,” the ministry added.
The Ministry added that the new academic year in public schools will officially begin on September 14. According to the ministry, the number of schools in the country is at 9,942.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science approved the restrictions for conducting classes in schools, as well as a list of subjects that are temporarily not recommended for conducting in the traditional format.
