At a government meeting on measures to create decent conditions for Uzbekistan nationals working abroad, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the situation in the country related to the pandemic, the presidential press service said in a statement.

In July and August, the number of people recovered from COVID-19 increased significantly, the statement noted. In particular, the ratio of those who recovered over the past five days increased from 77% to 87%. The number of people receiving treatment dropped from 7,000 to 4,000.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that about 40 experts from Russia and 10 from China arrived in Uzbekistan the other day and stressed that, taking into account citizens' requests, lockdown restrictions had been relaxed, but at the same time, the risk of the spread of the virus will significantly increase due to the greater presence of people in public places.

With this in mind, the head of the country instructed to explain the importance of maintaining vigilance and caution, strict adherence to established restrictions to protect against the virus, as well as provide practical assistance and maintain control.

“Iron discipline must remain the primary rule for all of us. Businesses, organizations, agriculture and construction sites, transport and public places must also strictly adhere to these restrictions,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

It was determined that mayors of all levels, heads of sectors, health care systems, makhallas, police departments and others shall bear personal responsibility in provinces and spheres for the situation related to the pandemic.
