The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a congratulatory message to Alexander Lukashenko on his victory in the Belarus presidential elections, the presidential press service reported.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted in his message that “the high voter turnout and the results once again demonstrated the great confidence of the Belarusian people in Alexander Lukashenko, his solidarity and full support for the continuation of effective reforms aimed at improving the quality of life in Belarus, ensuring sustainable economic growth in the country”.

The President expressed confidence that the further implementation of the agreements between Uzbekistan and Belarus "will enrich the bilateral ties with concrete content - important cooperation projects in the sectors of the economy and humanitarian exchange programs."

Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished Alexander Lukashenko good health, prosperity and new successes, and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Belarus.

The leaders of China Xi Jinping, of Russia Vladimir Putin and Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev also congratulated Alexander Lukashenko over the election results.

The presidential elections in Belarus were held last Sunday. According to preliminary data of the Central Election Commission, Alexander Lukashenko won 80.23% of the vote. After the voting ended and the publication of the exit polls, rallies began in various cities of the country. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3,000 people were detained overnight.
