On August 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government meeting on boosting the public health and safety, ensuring environmental well-being and improving the waste collection and processing system, the presidential press service said.
At the beginning of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the issue of countering the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, he noted that as a result of a significant expansion of the bed capacity and coverage degree with medical equipment, an increase in the coordination of emergency medical services and institutions, recovery rates from coronavirus infection have increased over the past week.
He emphasized that it is important to continue to live and work in a pandemic, without weakening attention to protecting the life and health of citizens, and to gradually relax lockdown restrictions.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that "the longer we keep the lockdown, the more we will be torturing the people."
On August 7, the Senate Chairperson Tanzila Norboeva noted that lockdown measures would now be lifted in a phased way.
Member of the headquarters for combating COVID-19, Professor Khabibulla Akilov indicated that the health care system was ready for a potential increase in the number of patients if lockdown measures were to be relaxed.
