On August 7 started the sixth plenary session of the Senate. During the meeting, Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Norboeva expressed her opinion on the pandemic.

“Today the nations of the world are going through a difficult period. No country was ready for such a situation. The coronavirus pandemic is a major challenge for people, industries and systems. In general, today we have to go through work processes that are not standard for our country and a non-standard way of life for our people. In this process, we are more and more convinced of one thing: a solid economic and political base has been created in Uzbekistan, which helps to overcome the most difficult situations without great losses,” she said.

Tanzila Norboeva said that the lockdown measures in Uzbekistan will be lifted in a phased way.

“The difficulties will surely pass. The pandemic will also end. But no one can guarantee that there will be no such difficulties in the future. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to adapt all sectors to such conditions. Quarantine measures will be lifted in stages. We need to step up promoting a healthy lifestyles among the population, to return patients to a normal life by treating patients on the basis of developed protocols, that is, we must develop the economy. At the same time, improving our laws is one of the main tasks,” she said.

Earlier, the special republican anti-coronavirus commission decided to extend the lockdown in Uzbekistan until August 15.
