The second meeting of the subcommittee on cooperation in the field of transport of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation took place via videoconference. On behalf of Uzbekistan was present the Minister of Transport Elyor Ganiev, while the Russian delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Transport/Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko.

The parties reviewed the topical aspects of bilateral cooperation, focusing on cooperation in the field of air transport. In particular, the parties discussed the preparation for the signing of the Agreement between the Uzbek Civil Aviation Agency and the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency on cooperation in the field of airworthiness. In addition, they talked about the possibility of increasing the number of flights between the two countries and creating a Russian-Uzbek low-cost air company for the transportation of passengers and cargo.

The counterparts also exchanged information on preparations for signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Transport of Uzbekistan and Russia on advancing cooperation in transport education. An agreement was reached on the swift completion of drafting the memorandum, as well as an agreement on cooperation in the field of airworthiness.

The parties will also continue work on the phased implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of digital transport systems, signed last year by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan and RT-Invest Transport Systems LLC.
