On July 16, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov hosted the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The counterparts reportedly exchanged views on the prospects of Uzbek-Hungarian ties in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as within the framework of international and regional organizations.

The ministers reviewed the schedule of upcoming events at various levels, pointed to the need for the next round of inter-ministerial consultations for a detailed study of the agenda and organizational aspects of bilateral contacts.

The parties underscored the huge untapped potential for further expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation, discussed mechanisms for increasing the two-way trade volume.

The heads of the foreign ministries also exchanged views on strengthening the Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation within the framework of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states and in the Uzbekistan-Hungary-EU format.

At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on cooperation in the field of diplomatic training and exchange of information and documentation.
