Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov hosted the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine Mykola Doroshenko on Wednesday, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Accepting copies of his credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his posting and wished him success in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
The parties also discussed topical aspects of Uzbek-Ukrainian ties, focusing on advancing cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian, tourism, educational, medical and other fields, and reviewed the proposals on joint activities, including the next meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on comprehensive cooperation.
The sides noted that the coronavirus pandemic had negatively affected the performance of the two-way trade. In this context, the parties confirmed their interest in enhancing direct contacts between businesses, chambers of commerce and the provinces of Uzbekistan and Ukraine, the statement said.
The parties expressed their readiness to implement joint scientific projects, intensify cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation.
It is noteworthy that the first meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission in the last 12 years was scheduled for April in Tashkent.
