On June 30, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the videoconference Central Asia - USA (C5 + 1).
The parties discussed the ways to enhance regional economic cooperation, confronting modern challenges and threats, including the fight against the spread of coronavirus, the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov proposed to focus joint work in such areas as the development of the digital economy, the consolidation of national transport strategies, stimulating innovation in agriculture, building up the energy potential of the countries of the region, and intensifying efforts to improve socio-economic situations in ecologically unfavorable zones of Central Asia, including the transformation of the Aral Sea region into a zone of innovation and technology.
The Minister noted that the Uzbek side supports the active efforts of the international community to advance the peace process in Afghanistan.
In their remarks the foreign ministers reiterated that the “C5 + 1” format had been continueing to demonstrate its significance and relevance as a platform for promoting peace, stability and prosperity in Central Asia.
