Alisher Kurmanov was appointed as the new Uzbekistan ambassador to Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry said. Prior to this appointment, since 2017, he had worked as chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism.

Alisher Kurmanov, 55, graduated from the Tashkent State University (1990) and Tashkent State University of Economy (1994).

In 2007-2013, he was the Uzbekistan ambassador to Singapore, in 2013-2014 - the ambassador to the Republic of Korea. From 2014 to 2015, he served as Deputy Foreign Minister. In 2015-2017, he served as the Uzbekistan envoy in the UK.

The previous ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ukraine was Alisher Abdualiev.
