Uzbekistan Airports has begun intensive preparations to resume operations, the company said in a statement. Reportedly the talks were held with representatives of more than 20 foreign airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Fly Dubai, Korean Air, Asiana, Air Astana, Aeroflot and Siberia, as well as Uzavia.
The talks focused on the resumption and effective operation of mutual flights of foreign airlines during the pandemic and its aftermath.
In particular, the Chairman of Uzbekistan Airports Rovshan Ismailov noted that the Uzbekistan airports are fully interested in the resumption of air traffic and cooperation.
"Speaking at the meeting, the foreign partners expressed their full readiness to resume flights to Uzbekistan," the statement noted.
Note: As part of the fight against the coronavirus, Uzbekistan has suspended air and road traffic with all countries of the world since March 16. As of March 30, all Uzbekistan airports were closed for all flights.
As of May 18, several domestic flights and passenger trains have been resumed.
It is expected that a call for bids for hand-over of Andijan, Bukhara, Urgench and Karshi international airports to public-private partnership will be announced as per the instructions of the President.
