On May 5, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a video conference, at which he spoke about emergencies in the Bukhara and Syrdarya provinces.
He recalled that more than 38 thousand houses, 847 social facilities, as well as crops were damaged as a result of a strong wing on the night of April 28 in Bukhara province, especially in Alat and Karakul districts. Serious damage was caused, in addition to agriculture, manufacturing facilities, services and infrastructure.
The flood caused by the burst of the Sardoba reservoir dam left 4 people dead, buildings, roads, communications damaged, and over 60 thousand people evacuated from 22 villages in three districts.
According to the president, the government commission is working on liquidating the consequences and restoring the infrastructure, houses, social and other facilities.
“The year began hard. Coronavirus has brought a new world to live in. And the trials of the last weeks in Bukhara and the Syrdarya should teach us the following: we must be vigilant in everything we do, weigh the tasks, measure seven times - cut off once. We must ensure the quality in everything!” - said the president.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that due to the strong wind in the Karakul district of Bukhara province, “the roofs of half of all kindergartens were totally demolished”, all those were commissioned in 2020.
"What does this mean?! This is the quality that we have in the construction industry. I myself have seen this several times. Where there is quality, there is the result. Where there is no quality, there is corruption, theft, kickbacks ... I remember some deputy prime ministers saying: “We will complete it,” “We will do it in the best way,” now they will have to go. The outcome of these cases will be different. I will carefully analyze it, I have to analyze it. I will bid farewell to many people,” he emphasized.
He underscored that “the business will no longer be like that. We must open our eyes and honestly serve the people”.
