The cost of treating one patient infected with coronavirus in Uzbekistan ranges from 32 to 64 million soums, (US$ 3.2 to 6.4 thous.), the Health Minister Alisher Shadmanov announced at a briefing on Thursday.
“Treatment of patients infected with coronavirus or those suspected of having this disease, as well as the care of those placed in quarantine is fully borne by the state,” Alisher Shadmanov emphasized.
According to him, the Ministry of Health had never had such a room for maneuver in terms of spending.
“5.4 trillion soums were provided to us, including 3.9 trillion soums from the budget, 1.2 trillion soums from the Anti-Crisis Fund. We also disbursed $ 32 million from international financial institutions. In addition, $ 150 million worth of equipment purchase contracts were entered into,” the minister said.
“Treatment of one patient in intensive care costs 64 million soums ($ 6,400). 2.2 million soums are spent per citizen quarantined for 2 weeks. 2.8 million soums are spent for rehabilitation per patient,” he added.
In addition, a reserve has been created in medical institutions for 16 thousand potential patients with COVID-19, and a reserve of drugs for 20 thousand patients, he concluded.
