President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday spoke to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan  over the phone. At the beginning of the conversation, the two leaders exchanged sincere congratulations on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, wished to each other and the fraternal peoples of the two states the health, prosperity and well-being.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated his colleague and the friendly Turkish people on the upcomingNational Sovereignty and Children's Day, the national holiday in Turkey.

The leaders focused on the close cooperation in the fight against the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection.

In particular, the parties fully supported the decisive measures being taken in both states to counter the pandemic.

The counterparts commended the fruitful outcomes of the extraordinary summit of the Council Cooperation of Turkic Speaking States, held on April 10 in the form of a video conference and dedicated to strengthening interaction and combining efforts in the fight against coronavirus.

The two leaders particularly focused on the need for taking measures at the government level to maintain the upward trend in mutual trade, support and accelerate priority projects, primarily in the field of innovation, energy, transport, infrastructure, healthcare and other industries, with the participation of leading companies and enterprises of the two countries.

To this end, it was agreed to hold regular bilateral consultations between the co-chairs of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, the heads of the authorized ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and Turkey.
