Farkhod Arziev was appointed first deputy foreign minister, replacing Ilkhom Nematov, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times.

Before that, since May 2017, he had served as Uzbekistan ambassador to India, and since March 2019, he had concurrently held the ambassador to Bangladesh position.

Farhod Arziev is a graduate of Tashkent State University (1997), City ,University of London (2000), and Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Trade at the University of Kentucky (USA, 2011).

He also worked at the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (1997−2000), Jahon news agency under the Foreign Ministry (2002−2004), the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN in New York (2004−2008), the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN in Geneva ( 2008−2009), the Department for UN Affairs and International Organizations at the Foreign Ministry (2012−2014), also as the deputy head of the mission/adviser to the Uzbekistan Ambassador to Germany (2014−2017).

It is reported that Ilkhom Nematov, who worked as the first deputy foreign minister since November 2018, became deputy foreign minister.
