The rector of the University of Pisa, Professor Paolo Mancarella announced the possibility of opening of the University branch in Tashkent, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
The branch could become the university’s first campus outside of Italy. This issue was discussed during the talks of the Uzbek government delegation with the leadership of the university in Rome.
The programs will be chosen "taking into account the needs for area specialists." At the initial stage, it is planned to develop undergraduate programs in geology, geophysics, energy, chemistry, biotechnology, information and communication technologies, economics and business management.
The university’s leadership is planning a visit to Uzbekistan in the near future to "discuss substantive and organizational issues related to the implementation of this project," the statement said.
