The Uzbek First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Alisher Abdualiev and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleg Yushchenko discussed the resumption of direct flights between the countries in Kyiv on Friday.

Oleg Yushchenko noted that Ukraine’s air transport policy is aimed at liberalizing the air transportation market with partner countries, including Uzbekistan.

“Ukraine is interested in the swift resumption of regular 7-time a week flights with Uzbekistan with a flight frequency,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Ukraine’s Trade Representative Taras Kachka, following a meeting with Alisher Abdualiyev, said that a meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission will be held in Tashkent on April 9-10. The previous meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held in 2007 in Kyiv.

Regular flights from Tashkent to Kiev were suspended in 2015 due to the lack of agreements between the aviation authorities of the two countries. Ukraine International Airlines has also suspended its Tashkent flights.
