The Italian national Giorgio Gheno was found dead in a rented apartment in Tashkent, the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.

On February 16, at about 11:00 p.m., the Mirabad district police department received a call from F.B. — the owner of the apartment, where Giorgio Gheno lived on a temporary residence permit.

The incident scene examination found that the door of the apartment was not cracked, with nothing was stolen, and the man had no bodily injuries.

A forensic medical examination was appointed to establish the cause of death. A pre-investigation check is underway.

Information on Giorgio Gheno’s death surfaced in the Italian media on February 20. It was reported that the young man’s parents could not contact him for three days and asked for help from the local authorities, who found him dead in the apartment.

It is noted that for many years Giorgio Geno lived abroad - in Australia and post-Soviet countries. A few months ago he moved to Uzbekistan. Parents added that their son had no health problems.
