Ikhtiyor Farmonov, who had worked as Kagan district mayor, has been approved as Bukhara mayor. The previous mayor of Bukhara, Valijon Urinov left the post “at his own request”, the press service of Bukhara province administration said.
This issue was considered at the Jan 24 extraordinary session of the Bukhara city deputies' councils, which was chaired by Bukhara province governor, Uktam Barnoyev.
In his speech Uktam Barnoyev noted shortcomings in the socio-economic development of the city.
"The construction progress of social housing and its quality do not meet the requirements. The debts on utilities service have accumulated. Land improvement works are in poor condition. Due to the irresponsible attitude to the concerns of the people there is a growing number of complaints to the government bodies. All this suggests of lack of competence of the city mayor’s office", - the governor said.
