The US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who arrived in Tashkent late on February 2, tweeted about his visit to the country.
“Visiting Uzbekistan today. President Mirziyoyev’s ambitious reform agenda is yielding significant progress, and I look forward to discussing ways to continue advancing peace, prosperity, and security through our partnership.”
He also held a meeting with the chief imam of Tashkent city, Nuriddin Domla Kholiqnazarov.
“Met with religious leaders in Uzbekistan on how reforms and legal revisions can promote greater religious freedom. The government's progress in this area has been impressive, and I look forward to seeing Uzbekistan make further advances,” he said in another tweet.
U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and the Foreign ministers of Central Asia will today meet for the next C5+1 format meeting in Tashkent.
He will also be hosted by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
