The Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian states and U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo will meet in Tashkent on February 3 for the next C5+1 format meeting, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

At the meeting will be present the U.S. Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, the Foreign Minister, Chingiz Aidarbekov of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Foreign Minister, Mukhtar Tleuberdi of Kazakhstan, the Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, the Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan and the Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan.

"The Foreign Ministers are expected to discuss the topical aspects of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the United States".

The Secretary Mike Pompeo will land in Tashkent today. He is also scheduled to be hosted by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The U.S. Secretary of State will present the new U.S. strategy for the Central Asia.

The last two meeting of the C5 + 1 took place in August 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan and in September in New York.

The C5+1, which was launched during the first meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian states and the USA in Samarkand in November 2015, is a format for dialogue and a platform for joint efforts to address common challenges faced by the five Central Asian states and the United States. It complements bilateral relationships in the region, particularly in issue areas where regional approaches may provide a comparative advantage.
