The next round of Uzbek-Russian political consultations between Foreign ministries took place in Moscow yesterday. The Uzbekistan delegation was headed by the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Ilkhom Nematov and the Russian Delegation was represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrei Rudenko.
The parties thoroughly discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian and other fields.
The progress of the implementation of the agreements reached as part of the reciprocal state visits of the two leaders in April 2017 and in October 2018 was considered. The parties reportedly oversee the control on the implementation of deals in the trade, economic and investment field for 2019-2024 worth total of US$ 25 billion.
The parties emphasized, the priority in the bilateral strategic partnership ties was the expanding trade and economic cooperation. Over the past two years, the two-way trade grew by 1.5 times. In January-November, trade turnover topped US$ 5.8 billion, a 14.1% increase year-to-year, with 130 mutual visits of various delegations organized YTD.
In this context, great importance is attached to the development of ties between the provinces of the two countries, with Uzbekistan provinces having established relations with 70 subjects of Russia.
During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on the organizational aspects of the upcoming bilateral events in Tashkent in 2020, including meetings of the Joint Commission at the level of heads of government, the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
