On December 18, Uzbekistan delegation headed by the Chairman of the Senate, Tanzila Norboeva attended the 9th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries.
During the event, the parties discussed the ways to further enhance cooperation between the member countries within the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA) and TurkPA’s expansion.
The heads of delegations welcomed the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the session, which was considered as another historical event for the Turkic world.
During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan's accession to TurkPA wouldl boost the organization and bring the peoples of the assembly members even closer.
A number of resolutions were adopted at the plenary session, including the establishment and functioning of a TurkPA parliamentary group including only women, the Statute on the Secretariat of the Organization, the Model Law on Tourism and the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World.
The next session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries will be held in Kazakhstan in 2020.
