On November 20, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed resolution creating joint Uzbek-Belarusian Intersectoral Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications in Tashkent.

The Institute is being founded by the Tashkent State Technical University, with stakeholders being the Belarusian National Technical University and the Republican Institute of Professional Education (Belarus).

The Institute will mainly offer industry, engineering, technology and IT programs and is expected to admit the first students from  2020/2021 academic year.

Undergraduate and graduate students will study first part of studies in Tashkent, while the second half in Belarus. They will also undergo internship at industrial enterprises of the two countries.

Graduates will be awarded a diploma of the Belarusian National Technical University, which is recognized as a document on higher education in Uzbekistan.

In 2021, a branch of the Institute is expected to open in Navoi.
