President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Measures to Improve Organization and Exploration for Oil and Gas Decree handing over a number of Uzbekneftegaz’s functions to the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources.
Among them:
- research, regional geological survey, geophysical and drilling operations aimed at discovering new hydrocarbon deposits;
- organization of efforts aimed at increasing oil and production , increasing the efficiency of exploration aimed at ensuring the discovery of new hydrocarbon deposits.
Uzbekneftegaz shall, before 2020, hand over to the State Geology Committee the data on current projects for conducting research and geophysical operations, as well as all on available reserves and other materials on all promising areas, investment blocks and hydrocarbon deposits.
It has been established that starting in 2020, annual state programs for the development and production of oil and gas resource base shall be developed and approved by the State Committee for Geology in coordination with the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Ministry of Finance.
