Tajikistan is ceding 300 hectares of land to Uzbekistan under a bilateral deal. Currently the land is part of Mastchoh district of Sughd province, Faraj reported.

gold mine had been developed on this land in recent years by the Tajik-Canadian joint venture Aprelevka. The mine is located near Obi Shifo village of Navbakhor community.

According to the source, "barbed wire have been laid in the area for the last 10 days.”

Jamshid Umarzoda, head of the Sughd Province Land Committee, said in a telephone interview with Faraj correspondent that "the issue is now being reviewed and only the Tajik government can comment on the matter."
