The Tashkent’s Yunusabad district Deputy Mayor in charge of construction, E.Z. has been caught red-handed while receiving a bribe of US$ 5,000 for registration of ownership of a building erected without permit, the head of the public relations and legal information department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Khayot Shamsutdinov said.
He is now facing Taking Bribe Through Extortion charge, with investigation currently underway.
E.Z. was aoppointed the Yunusabad deputy mayor in charge of architecture, capital construction and development of communications at the beginning of this year.
Prior to that, he worked for a long time in managerial positions in the UzJoyJamgarmabank system, was the founder and financial adviser at Makon Kapital Invest LLC.
In September 2018, the former mayor of the Yunusabad district, Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov was arrested for alleged taking $ 400,000 in a bribe in return for providing a land plot to an investor.
In May of this year, Abdusamatov was found guilty under article 205 of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
