On October 17, the Authority for Regulation of Alcohol and Tobacco Market under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan and the Federal Service for Regulation of the Alcohol Market of Russia signed a memorandum on licensing and labeling of alcoholic beverages in Tashkent, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
“The document provides for the organization of expert consultations on licensing and labeling, as well as the introduction of an automated information system for recording the volume of alcoholic beverages,” the report said.
The parties also intend to jointly conduct research of production and turnover of alcoholic beverages, share scientific and technical information and methodological recommendations. The cooperation agenda also includes holding joint training seminars and courses, organizing regular meetings and consultations.
In August, the State Tax Committee (STC) of Uzbekistan announced that it had signed a memorandum with the Russian Advancement Technologies Center (ATC) to introduce digital marking of certain goods in Uzbekistan.
According to the agency, the MDCT has set up the CRPT TURON enterprise in Uzbekistan to implement a pilot project on the introduction of digital labeling of cigarettes starting from September, and beer and alcohol products in October. The system should help track the movement of goods and identify illegal deliveries of products to the market. However, to date, the launch of the project has not been officially announced.
