The Surkhandarya’s Boysun district branch of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau (MIB) put up for sale a methane gas station, which belonged to Erkin Norkobilov, the brother-in-law of the former investigator of the National Security Service (DXX), Nodirbek Turakulov.
Earlier, the property was valued at 14.4 billion soums, but as no bids were made, the asset will be re-put for sale on October 30 at a lower price.
Earlier, the MIB of the Surkhandarya’s Shurchi district also put up for sale a methane gas station, which also belonged to Nodirbek Turakulov through a proxy. On October 3 of this year, the gas station was sold for 7.4 billion soums.
Nodir Turakulov was arrested on January 22, 2018 in Tashkent, a few days after the meeting at the Kizirik district of Surkhandarya province, chaired by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev where he criticized the officers of the provincial DXX department.
On October 25 last year, Nodir Turakulov was sentenced to 16 years in prison and was fined 81 million soums (over 9.7 thousand US dollars). According to media reports, he was charged on 10 articles of the Criminal Code, among which abuse of power, bribery, fraud and extortion, with another 12 more persons convicted.
Later, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office noted that more charges were investigated against Nodir Turakulov.
