A 19-year-old girl was killed in the tragedy when a sky-high flying saucer ride suddenly breoke apart in mid-air, sending thrill-seekers crashing to the ground from a height of 23ft at the Istiqlol theme park in Jizzakh city on Friday.

Terrifying footage shows the moment of the tragedy. Riders were strapped in and flung high in the air for a 360-degree swing, but the metal arm of the ride snapped in half, sending them plummeting to the ground.

Screams of joy and delight turn into cries of pain and horror as the huge metal arm came apart.

The Uzbek authorities said one teenage female rider was killed, but did not specify if there were injuries to other riders. The shocking video ends after the platform smashed to the ground. The victim was identified by her initials M.H., aged 19.

The ride had been installed at the park in March this year. In May, there was a critical report about safety in the amusement park. Jizzakh is 125 miles southwest of capital city Tashkent.
