On June 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Bill approving the Electoral Code into Law, Xalq Sozi said. The Bill was passed by the Legislative Chamber on February 18 and was approved by the Senate on February 28.
The document unifies the existing laws on elections regulating relations on ensuring the guarantee of citizens' electoral rights, preparation and holding of elections for the president, to the two houses of the parliament, provincial, district and city councils of people's deputies, as well as the activities of the Central Election Commission.
As per the Electoral Code the quotas of deputy seats in the Legislative Chamber for the members of the Environmental Movement has been abolished.
Also have been scrapped the restriction on being elected of people convicted of crimes, which do not pose a great public danger and less serious crimes.
